Inizieremo il tour presso l’Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, dove Ferdinando e Isabella regnarono per 8 anni, e osserveremo come i resti romani e visigoti coesistono con quelli di origine araba. Questo monumento fu il più importante di tutto l'Occidente islamico e uno dei più sorprendenti del mondo. Scopri mosaici romani, bagni arabi e patii con pavimenti in marmo, oltre a giardini pieni di fiori delicati ed erbe.
In seguito visiterai la Sinagoga di Cordoba, costruita nel 1315 nel mezzo di un labirinto di vicoli che popolano il quartiere ebraico della città. Lasceremo il meglio per ultimo: ci dirigeremo alla Moschea di Cordoba, dichiarata Patrimonio dell'Umanità dall'Unesco. Lasciati sorprendere dagli ornamenti delle colonne e dai suoi archi perfetti a ferro di cavallo, esempio di una delle più belle opere d'arte islamica in Spagna. La cattedrale fu costruita in 900 anni e, di conseguenza, unisce un mix eclettico di stili architettonici che la rendono unica. Passeggia tranquillamente nal Cortile degli Aranci e perditi nella bellezza di Cordoba.

During the popular annual competition during May, the courtyards open their doors to the public, however for the rest of the year they remain closed. If you visit the city outside of these dates, then this tour will open up the doors just for you. We visit five popular houses that have won several prizes during the annual competition, and will therefore show you the best and prettiest of the courtyards not to be missed.
Cordoba’s courtyards are on Unesco’s List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity since 2012, and during the tour you’ll find out why the courtyards played a great role in the history and culture of the city. Most of the courtyards feature a fountain in the middle in order to cool the summer heat, and each was adapted to the needs of the house. Each has its own distinctive character, with colourful flowers and plants decorating their walls, and you’ll be amazed how pretty and ornate these courtyards are. The courtyard caretakers have poured their heart and soul into these peaceful pockets in the heart of the city, and this is your opportunity to learn about and admire Cordoba’s hidden treasures.

When you set your eyes on what’s inside, you soon come to know so much about the history without picking up a single book, as they say a picture paints a thousand words. The Mosque manages to showcase the best of Islamic, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles all in one place which is reason enough to pay it a visit.

Escursioni a Cordoba: Journey into Cordoba’s past and discover the fascinating history behind the city’s most famous and emblematic monument: the Great Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba. Take a tour inside and around this mesmerising space that shows you the details and features of both its eventful past and architecture.
The tour starts in the Courtyard of the Orange Trees, where their sweet aroma invites you in to discover the treasures inside. Its construction was originally ordered on the site of a Visigoth church by Emir Abd-el-Rahman I in 786 AD. It was intended as an airy space where Muslim people could engage and its style was to reflect that of his forefathers. Extensions to the mosque were eventually completed and after nine centuries its construction was finally finished; bringing to life one of the most extraordinary buildings in the world.
It has been a Catholic cathedral since the 13th century and today you can walk around its labyrinth of arches and arcades. With every step and every corner you turn a different and magnificent view awaits. Look between the 856 columns, out of the original 1293, and through its arcades that give the building a sense of infinitude, as your guide regales you with an overview of its historical highlights. One of the best examples of Moorish art in Spain, its ornate interior and characterful history will not disappoint. Admire the prayer hall, Mihrab, the many chapels and the mahogany choir stalls as you delve deeper into the building’s past. Enter and leave through the only door in use out of the original 19, and witness firsthand how it has dramatically transformed over the centuries.

Many would argue that there is not a fruit as versatile as the grape and you’ll see just how the grapes can be twiddled with to make the most out of them without cutting corners.
This is a unique experience that is not to be missed by any of those who enjoy a glass or two of an evening or for those who are keen to take that passion to the next level.
