Escursioni a Lubliana - Alpine Lakes Bled and Bohinj
Escursioni a Lubliana: Lake Bled is famous for its little island in the middle and a castle above it. Visit the Alpine world of Triglav National Park, where The Bohinj valley lies, known for its scenic beauty and pristine nature.
Drive across the Pokljuka plateau, a high altitude wlderness with thick pine forests. The lake surrounds Bled Island (Blejski otok). The island has several buildings, the main one being the pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary (Cerkev Marijinega vnebovzetja), built in its current form near the end of the 17th century, and decorated with remains of Gothic frescos from around 1470 in the presbyterium and rich Baroque equipment.
The church has a 52 m (171 ft) tower and there is a Baroque stairway from 1655 with 99 stone steps leading up to the building. The church is frequently visited and weddings are held there regularly. Traditionally it is considered good luck for the groom to carry his bride up the steps on the day of their wedding before ringing the bell and making a wish inside the church.
The largest of the streams that flow into the lake, the Savica ('little Sava'), is fed from rno jezero (Black Lake), the lowest-lying lake in the Triglav Lakes Valley. The outflow at the eastern end is the Jezernica creek which merges with the Mostnica to form the Sava Bohinjka, which in turn becomes the larger Sava River at the confluence with the Sava Dolinka. As found out already by Belsazar Hacquet in the 18th century, much more water leaves Lake Bohinj than enters it, which is explained with subterranean sources of water.
The clear waters are the habitat of brown trout, burbot, European chub, common minnow and Arctic char, eight genera of molluscs, as well as of numerous algae species. It is a popular day trippers' destination for swimming and other water sports. On the shore is a statue of the legendary Goldhorn (Zlatorog) chamois, whose story was perpetuated by the poet Rudolf Baumbach.

Escursioni a Lubliana: Visit all the major tourist attractions of the Slovenian coast. Enjoy the views from Socerb castle and admire the medieval Dance of Death frescoes at Hrastovlje church. Learn about the traditional salt production and visit historical Koper, hip Portorož and charming Piran. Koper is a city in southwestern Slovenia, with the other Slovenian coastal towns Ankaran, Izola, Piran, and Portorož, situated along the country's 47-kilometre (29-mile) coastline, in the Istrian Region, approximately five kilometres (3.1 miles) from its border with Italy. Having a unique ecology and biodiversity, it is considered an important national natural resource.
With only one percent of Slovenia having a coastline, the influence that the city's Port of Koper, which is also the major contributor to the economy of the eponymous city municipality, has on tourism was a factor in deciding Ankaran to leave the municipality with a referendum in 2011. Koper is the main urban center of the Slovenian Istria with a population of about 25,000.
The city of Koper is officially bilingual, with both Slovene and Italian as official languages. Sights in Koper include the 15th-century Praetorian Palace and Loggia in Venetian Gothic style, the 12th-century Carmine Rotunda church, and the Cathedral of St Nazarius, with its 14th-century tower.
Koper is also one of the main road entry points into Slovenia from Italy, which lies to the north of the municipality. The main motorway crossing is at Spodnje Škofije to the north of the city of Koper. The motorway continues into Rabuiese and Trieste. Koper also has a rail connection with the capital city, Ljubljana. On the coast, there is a crossing at Lazaret into Lazaretto in Muggia municipality in Trieste province. The Italian border crossing is known as San Bartolomeo. Portorož (Italian: Portorose, literally "Port of Roses"), is an Adriatic-Mediterranean coastal settlement in the Municipality of Piran in southwestern Slovenia.
Its modern development began in the late 19th century with the vogue for the first health resorts. In the early 20th century Portorož became one of the grandest seaside resorts in Europe, along with Abbazia, Lido and Grado, then as part of the Austrian Littoral. It is now one of Slovenia's major tourist areas. Located in the centre is the Hotel Palace, once one of the most important resorts for the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, and currently one of the finest hotels between Venice and Dubrovnik.
The settlement and its surrounding areas are served by Portorož International Airport which is located in the nearby village of Seovlje. Iran (Italian: Pirano) is a town in the Municipality of Piran in southwestern Slovenia on the Gulf of Piran on the Adriatic Sea. It is one of the three major towns of Slovenian Istria. The town has much medieval architecture, with narrow streets and compact houses. Piran is the administrative centre of the local area and one of Slovenia's major tourist attractions. Until the mid-20th century, Italian was the dominant language, but was replaced by Slovene as populations moved.

It is located in the village of Predjama, approximately 11 kilometres from the town of Postojna and 9 kilometres from Postojna Cave.

Escursioni a Lubliana - Socialism and the City
Escursioni a Lubliana: Discover why Slovenians look back on their past with pride, and find out how life was lived just a couple of decades ago. Immerse yourself in one of the most authentic urban adventures as you visit socialist-era sites and learn about the good and not-so-good of Yugoslavian socialism.
Long live the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia! Enter our government-sponsored time machine and embark on a journey that will take you around the most iconic historic spots in the city as you learn about local life under the socialist regime.
Together we will view socialist-style buildings, check out statues of glorified Yugoslav politicians, visit one or two bars that seem frozen in time, have a snack at the Central Market, and finish up in Metelkova city, former barracks turned into an alternative neighbourhood of museums, wild art, booming nightlife, and a popular hostel inside a former Yugoslav prison.
Your Ljubljana tour will start in the newer part of downtown, where you will get a chance to spot some typical socialist-era skyscrapers, dotted between the elegant architecture of Art Nouveau and Baroque. We’ll walk toward the Galley of Modern Art, which is housed in a massive block of grey concrete — socialist and stylish at the same time, you might say! We’ll get a quick look at the Tivoli city park, and mark down the Museum of Modern History for a later visit.
We will stroll down a tree-lined street to see some important buildings like the United States embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We will make a short stop by the statue of Kidri (the first president of the Slovenian parliament), where you’ll pick up a few interesting facts about Slovenian history after World War II. This will lead us to the Parliament building, right across the spacious Republic Square, where Slovenian independence was proclaimed in 1991.
Our path will lead us to the beautiful Star Park, nestled in the famous Congress Square, where you can enjoy a nice view of the castle, and see sites like the Slovenian Philharmonic, and the University of Ljubljana. You will have plenty of opportunities to take photos in this car-free area of the city.
We’ll then stop into one of the nostalgic bars by the river, where you can have a beer or glass of wine, and reminiscence about the old times. Rested, we’ll then walk through the central marketplace, where we can enjoy a tasty snack on the go, see the famous Dragon Bridge, and continue on to artsy Trubarjeva Street, where we’ll end up in an old bicycle factory that is now a popular urban spot for locals.
We’ll finish our journey with the best discovery: an old Yugoslav military base that has been converted into one of the most famous alternative neighbourhoods in Europe, called Metelkova. Check out a former prison that’s now turned into a trendy hostel, and have another beer in one of the graffiti-covered buildings full of art, good vibes, and history.

Escursioni a Lubliana - Via Slovencia - Celje and Ptuj
Escursioni a Lubliana: Celje is the third-largest town in Slovenia. It is a regional center of the traditional Slovenian region of Styria and the administrative seat of the City Municipality of Celje (in Slovene, Mestna obina Celje). The town of Celje is located below Upper Celje Castle (407 m or 1,335 ft) at the confluence of the Savinja, Hudinja, Ložnica, and Voglajna rivers in the lower Savinja Valley, and at the crossing of the roads connecting Ljubljana, Maribor, Velenje, and the Central Sava Valley. It lies 238 m (781 ft) above mean sea level (MSL). The Celje region is frequently shaken by minor earthquakes.
Ptuj is a town in northeastern Slovenia. Traditionally the area was part of the Styria region. Ptuj is the center place of a ten-day-long carnival in the spring, an ancient Slavic pagan rite of spring and fertility, called Kurentovanje or Korantovanje.
Kurent is believed to be the name of an ancient god of hedonism - the Slavic counterpart of the Greek Priapos, although there are no written records. Kurenti or Koranti (singular, Kurent or Korant) are figures dressed in sheep skin who go about the town wearing masks, a long red tongue, cow bells, and multi-colored ribbons on the head. The Kurenti from Ptuj and the adjoining villages also wear feathers, while those from the Haloze and Lancova vas wear horns. Organized in groups, Kurents go through town, from house to house, making noise with their bells and wooden sticks, to symbolically scare off evil spirits and the winter.

Escursioni a Lubliana - Škocjan Unesco Caves and Lipica Stud Farm
Escursioni a Lubliana: Škocjanske Jame is a cave system in Slovenia. Due to its exceptional significance, Škocjan Caves was entered on UNESCO’s list of natural and cultural world heritage sites in 1986. International scientific circles have thus acknowledged the importance of the caves as one of the natural treasures of planet Earth. Ranking among the most important caves in the world, Škocjan Caves represents the most significant underground phenomena in both the Karst region and Slovenia.
Following independence from SFR Yugoslavia in 1991, Slovenia committed itself to actively protecting the Škocjan Caves area and established the Škocjan Caves Regional Park, Slovenia and its Managing Authority, the Škocjan Caves Park Public Service Agency. The Stud Farm Lipica is committed to ensuring care, treatment, accommodation and breeding of all categories of Lipizzaners in accordance with the highest ethical, ethological and technological standards not only due to the role and importance of the stud farm in modern breeding of Lipizzaner worldwide, but above all due to the Lipizzaners themselves.
The Stud Farm Lipica breeds the Lipizzaner in a traditional tested way. Stallions placed in stables in individual enclosed stalls are trained regularly. Broodmares are placed in a joint stable, breeding is free.
Immediately after foaling mares with foals are placed in enclosed stalls for 10 to 14 days thus ensuring them the necessary peace and satisfactory control over the health state of the mother and the foal in the post-natal period. After this period mares with foals return to the joint stable. Breeding is combined, on pastures and in the stable. In the pasture season the entire herd of broodmares is on pastures during the day, whereas in winter, they are moved to arranged places for running when the conditions do not enable pasturing.
The weaning of all foals is carried out at the end of October. Colts and fillies are bred in joint stables; the breeding is combined – on pastures and in the stable until they reach the age of three years and a half. In the period of being introduced into work and testing new capabilities which lasts one year the animals are placed in individual enclosed stalls.
For animals entered in the Studbook of the Slovenian Lipizzaner Breeding Association (ZRLS) no breeding conditions are defined in the Breeding Program directly, however, the following is recommended: that animals are bred in stables ensuring breeding of animals in accordance with ethological standards; that in the pasturing season animals can pasture the whole day on pastures of appropriate size.
