Escursioni a Cuenca - Cajas National Park Day Trip
Escursioni a Cuenca: Cajas is a national park located on the northwester side of the city of Cuenca; it’s formed by wetland from glacial origins with more than 200 lakes. Our visit will start on the lower part of the park called the area “Llaviuco” only 30 minutes away from the city of Cuenca. We will hike at an easy rate for one hour at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level (9,842ft).
We will continue our visit until we get to a point called “tres cruces” which forms the Continental divide between the Pacific and the Atlantic ocean at an altitude of 4,135m (13,566ft), we will have a short walk to observe this interesting area, then we will descend and will perform our main hike at an altitude of 3,900m (12,795ft) for approximately three hours. The difficulty at this point is moderate. On the trail we will visit a beautiful primary forest and will observe the interesting vegetation. Return to Cuenca.

Escursioni a Cuenca - City Tour Cuenca
Escursioni a Cuenca: The city tour will start at the Plaza San Sebastian, which constitutes the western colonial border of the city of Cuenca. Then visit the modern arts museum where many contemporary artworks are displayed. We will walk by the downtown historical area to visit the San Francisco market, the flower market, the culture house, the Abdon Calderon Park, and the old cathedral (we will not enter). We will enter in the New Cathedral, it’s the biggest in the country there we’ll observe the famous gold leaf canopy.
We continue the tour to the Homero Ortega Panama Hat factory to observe the complete process of manufacturing of the Panama hat which is undoubtedly most important to our country. Later we will visit the “barranco” with its colonial style terraced houses located next to the “Tomebamba River”. Also we will also observe the “broken bridge” and finally visit the tourist balcony of “Turi” where we can see a panoramic view of the whole city of Cuenca. Then return to the Hotel.

Escursioni a Cuenca - Full Day Fishing Tour - Private
Escursioni a Cuenca: This tour starts very early in the morning, tourists will be picked up at the hotel at the agreed time. After that they will be transferred to the Cajas National Park. Where they conduct a ride up the mountain which includes Sportfishing in the various loopholes that exist in these we find a delicious kind of seafood lagoons: rainbow trout, whose flesh delights the taste buds of locals and foreigners, and can be caught by oneself. It is said that this activity dates back to 1951 when driven by the Institute of Economic Recovery Austro Jorge Ubidia Betancourt, Chilean coach in fish farming freshwater, arrived in Cuenca, in order to activate the production and planting of trout in the rivers around the city. Sport fishing is permitted in the Cajas National Park, however it is illegal to use nets, gas, dynamite, among others. All necessary equipment will be provided to perform this activity. At the end of fishing tourists receive lunch and then be transferred back to Cuenca.

Escursioni a Cuenca: The tour begins with a transfer to the village of San Bartolome where we visit the church, central park, a typical house in the area and their gardens full of medicinal plants. Taste a cup of coffee or aromatic waters from the garden of the house, accompanied by the "delicate" bread made from brown sugar.
During this tour we see straw hats being made and visit a small workshop of guitars.
Also we visit the Chordeleg, famous for its handicrafts in gold, silver, filigree, wood, ceramics, etc. We will visit the main square and have time for shopping.
Continuing the tour, we go to the canton of Gualaceo, where we visit two markets: fruit and typical food.

Escursioni a Cuenca: We will go to the west of the city of Cuenca to the Cajas National Park. This park has an area of 29 hectares where there are 230 lakes of different sizes. It is at a height between 3000 and 4500 m (9,843 to 14,764 feet). It is one of the largest reserves of water that has the country. It is characterized by its beautiful landscape of desert, rain forest, polylepis forest, tall vegetation and a variety of birds and mammals. Once in the park we will walk for 3-4 hours around the Laguna La Toreadora. We will also see the gaps in Burin and Luspa. Then we climb the hill San Luis, as the main viewpoint to appreciate the beautiful scenery around the park. Then we spoil you with a delicious lunch

Escursioni a Cuenca: We start our tour out of the northwestern side of the city of Cuenca with a visit to San Bartolome, a little town next to the Andes mountain range, with an amazing view of the valley of River Santa Bárbara. This town is famous for its crafty artisans in making guitars. We will visit a traditional shop to observe the process of making this musical instrument.
We continue to Chordeleg a town known around the country for its ceramic, gold and silver jewelry and above all for their fine filigree work made of gold and silver threads. Here we will be able to go shopping and the artisans will show us the way they elaborate the jewelry. There we can then take a walk around its central plaza where we will observe countless crafts and shops.
Later, we will continue to Gualaceo to visit 2 important markets that are known for their variety of products and the colorful scenery. Then we’ll stop for lunch (not included), after visit a textile shop where we’ll observe the back strap loom and the horizontal loom weaving and how a variety of products are made, they will also show us the Hispanic technique of “Ikat” to make shawls and ponchos. Then return to Cuenca

Escursioni a Cuenca: We will go to the railroad station in “Alausi” located 160 km north of the city of Cuenca; on the route taken we will see unforgettable Andean Landscapes, and then arrive in San Pedro de Alausi.
Here we begin a dramatic decline of 1h 30min aboard a train, which goes by the famous “Devils Nose” mountain; this railroad was recognized as one of the world’s greatest engineering achievements of the 20th century. After getting off the train we will continue the trip to visit the most important archeological site of Ecuador, the Inca Ruins of Ingapirca. Return to Cuenca.

Escursioni a Cuenca - Trekking in the National Park of Cajas
Escursioni a Cuenca: From Cuenca we moved to the Cajas National Park to the area Horse Shayana where we say goodbye to our driver. The walk began in the Laguna de Cucheros (height 3950 m) Our naturalist guide will accompany us throughout the tour, which begins with an uphill walk for 40 minutes until knife / blade (height 4080 m) from where we observe the valley Burin (height 4010 m) where several gaps as large Burin Burin boy Ingañan among others; where we dive into the Andean grassland while admiring the natural beauty especially the panoramic view of the sector and the canyon floor where the slope that will feed the Llaviucu Mamamag and lagoons.
The route leads us to the Laguna Mamamag (3.500 m) combining the same walk among streams and a small forest of polilepys and vestiges of pre-Columbian cultures in the Royal Inca Trail. Short stop for a box lunch.
The trail leads to an important vantage point from which we observe the spectacular valley of Llaviucu continue the journey through the forest of San Antonio began the descent to the forest Llaviucu, where the scenery changes dramatically from grassland to upper montane forest.
Finally, we arrive at Llaviuco (height 3100 m) where you can download the backpacks in the transport and do a little birding tour. Llaviuco is considered the best place in the National Park for bird watching.
