Escursioni a Bogota - 11 Days/10 Nights Andina Zone
Escursioni a Bogota: Day 1:
Arrived to Bogota, El Dorado international airport, transfer airport - hotel. Night spent in Bogota.
Day 2:
We will start visiting Sutatausa which is a typical cundinamarques town, it is peaceful and quiet characteristic of the peasant towns of the cundí-boyacense Highland, where the time seems to have stopped in the colony with its unique architecture of this time, here you can know the farallones of rock of sutatusa, the doctrinal set and muisca indigenous cemetery (3 hours trekking optional), then we will come to Cucunubá it has all the 17th century history because you can find colonial architecture, with White houses with perfectly placed clay tiles and green-framed windows that combine perfectly with the characteristic of this village stone floor which will give you a wonderful experience. In this magical place we will have lunch a typical dish of the region. After we have had lunch we will go to Ráquira, there you can transport toward the last century because it has colonial architecture with many colors which generates a unique magical environment of the region. This village is well known for its works in clay, woven, baskets, clothing, hammocks and gold- and silversmithing, we can explore the village and we can visit different handicrafts stores, at the end of the day we will go to villa de Leiva, where we will stay at night. Night spent in Bogota.
Day 3:
Villa de Leyva is an amazing place full of history which makes happy travelers on each corner with its amazing colonial architecture. Just walking along the narrow streets with its stone floor to go slowly in any direction to find churches, convents and monasteries, enjoying a peaceful and wonderful atmosphere with a lot of magic, you can find a huge square; it will transport you immediately to the 17th century which will give you a unique experience. Here you will be delighted with big windows and wooden doors of colonial-style buildings. We will leave in the morning in a car to the ecological park La Periquera where we will enjoy nature walking down from the mountain to the river. Finally we will return to Villa de Leyva in order to have lunch (these adventure activities are optional). After we have had lunch we will do a tour by the Center historical visiting the main streets of Villa of Leyva, we will go to the Cathedral, Church of the Carmen, El maestro Acuña museum, prehistoric museum, House Juan of Castellanos, House of the first Congress, Real factory of liquors, Antonio Ricaurte museum, Antonio Nariño museum, Molina de la Mesopotamia, and El Carmen museum when we have finished the tour we will have time to know handicrafts stores. Night spent in Bogotá.
Day 4:
This day we will go to the base of the mountain by car, there you can find the huts of Iguaque, after we will walk to the moor. During this trekking you can breathe fresh and clean air, we will walk along trails with great biodiversity with different colors it is typical of the high Andean forest of the Colombian Andes. We will arrive to the Iguaque lake, which is a holy place for the Muisca mythology and one of the eight lakes that this cloudy and mysterious moor has (This activity is optional). This lake of glacial origin is guarded by hundreds of frailejones, it will be a wonderful and magical experience for you, we will have time to take photos, enjoy the landscapes and rest, then we will come back to villa de Leyva, where we will have lunch, after we will go to the tota lake. Night spent in Laguna de Tota Aquitania.
Day 5:
In the Tota lake we can relax watching the imposing water mirror, reflecting the light blue when the clouds part. This lake is hidden in the middle of the Eastern Cordillera, becoming the largest natural water in Colombia, we will have breakfast in white beach, a magical place of white sand and worship site of the natives Muiscas, then we will visit Monguí, which is considered one of the prettiest villages in Boyacá, we will walk along the magic colonial streets we will know its myths and legends. Monguí is a place frozen in time, where the material, intangible and natural heritage are protagonists, it is a place where there are not problems, it is a place where you can enjoy its architecture, and gastronomy. After we have lunch we will go to Guatavita. It is a very beautiful town, it has a wonderful architecture full of magic, and it is new Guatavita. It is a tribute to the old Guatavita, which due to the construction of the reservoir to mine had to be moved in 1964 and rebuilt brick by brick and history by history. This is the new Guatavita a magical town full of stories. Night spent in Guatavita.
Day 6:
On this day we will visit the holy lake guatavita which is a place of ceremonies for indigenous Muiscas, because there the ritual of investiture of the new Zipa (Cacique) was performed; then we will go to the Salt Cathedral where you will see the change from daylight to darkness in a room built inside the salt mines, gradually a multicolored phosphorescent light breaks through and illuminates the walls of the mine, you will realize that you are in a special place, you will discover that it is a monumental piece of architecture made by the hands of the miners, which is a cathedral temple now that invites reflection and personal growth and at the end of the day we can enjoy a wonderful view from the hill of Monserrate this is the symbol of Bogotá. Located 3152 meters above sea level, it has in the top the sanctuary of Mr. Fallen Monserrate, pilgrimage place of native and foreign people, surrounded by lush vegetation and where you can appreciate the best landscape in the Sabena of Bogota. Night spent in Bogota.
Day 7:
On this day we will leave early from Bogota to the Ibague city where private vehicles will wait for us to take us to the vereda de las juntas, where we will stay in Ukuku which is a beautiful Eco lodge, decorated with beautiful gardens and immerse in the mountains, there you can take an invigorating break in harmony with nature and surrounded by the majestic snowy del Tolima. Located in the Grand Canyon of Combeima river to 17 km from the center of the city of Ibague, in the village of Juntas "Gateway to the snowy park" and 1200m from the road. Immersed in the mountains, it is the ideal place to enjoy an invigorating break in harmony with nature and guarded by the majestic Tolima snowy. After we have lunch we will walk during 4 hours through bridle paths which were trodden since pre-Columbian times by our indigenous ancestors, roads leading to Walking trails, through bridges, breathe fresh air, see birds, admire beautiful landscapes, explore the woods and swim in crystal clear and cold waters, they are part of the attractions of this day. Night spent in Bogota.
Day 8:
We will make a photo safari which we will recognize all the natural wealth of the canyon of Combeima taking unique photos it is a beautiful learning experience. Then we will leave very early in the morning, we will travel by paths where we will see the natural diversity of Ukuku its surroundings with a professional guide. At the end of the day you can exhibit your photos around a campfire and a cocktail. The author of the best photograph will have a gift. Night spent in Juntas – Ibague.
Day 9:
After breakfast will come out Tatacoa desert with an area of 370 K. M2 according to the latest studies, and with an area of influence that comprises almost the 1,000 K. M2, this desert becomes the second arid zone of the country, after the Guajira, with a georphism mainly from estoraques and gullies among others and its different nuances that give the soil the soil from ocher to a Martian and Lunar color, Tatacoa is the most special place to contemplate the sky, that night we will visit the astronomic observatory where someone will give us a talk and then to take photos to the magical night sky. Night spent in Villa Vieja.
Day 10:
We will leave Villa vieja to the desert. Which is considered one of the most beautiful deserts in the country. During the tour, the landscape changes: trees, cotton fields and cattle are being left behind. Cactus, up to two meters high, begin to appear: first two, then three, and the number is increasing, even invading the landscape, an incredible orange terracotta floor will appear, the endless desert and toasty, with ripples on earth. Night spent in Villa Vieja.
Day 11:
You will have Breakfast at the hotel in Neiva, after you will leave for Bogota (airport or hotel).

DAY 1
The adventure begins in the morning in Bogotá, from where we will head to Ibagué, with a stop for lunch in a local restaurant with traditional Colombian food. Later we will enter the Combeima canyon, where you will be able to enjoy a beautiful landscape. Upon arriving to Juntas, we will begin a 30 minute walk through a trail filled with wildlife, leading to an Eco lodge, which will be the final resting place of the whole adventure. Here you will be able to relax and explore this magical place, enjoying views of the mountains and the snowy peaks of the “Nevado del Tolima”, which stands as a silent guardian. You will find this is a magical place.
DAY 2
On this day, we have an early start with a quick breakfast before leaving for the trails in search of endemic species. We will have a specialized guide (ornithologist) to take us on a walk in the trails, where you will appreciate the bird diversity of the region and later that afternoon we will return to the Eco lodge, where we will enjoy a delicious traditional lunch, after which you will feel delighted of having a beautiful adventure, with great pictures to remember it! After a well-deserved rest, we will return to Bogota.

Escursioni a Bogota - 4 Days / 3 Nights Nevado del Cocuy Tour
Escursioni a Bogota: You will visit the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy, enjoying one of the most beautiful national parks of Colombia. Here you will find great lakes, large valleys, and a unique geography, making it an attractive place to visit. As you walk through the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy, you will enter a place filled with magic and unique sites, demanding a great effort. This hidden place is surrounded by over twenty snowy peaks. You will be able to contemplate the moors of the Eastern mountain range (Cordillera Oriental) with its snowy peaks and beautiful bodies of water, reflecting scenic skies. You will not be able to see the difference between land and skies.
After living this experience, you will not be the same person again, and you will have a feeling of self-accomplishment, overpowering the obstacles that the mountain presents.
DAY 1:
We pick up the traveler at the hotel, to take him to the transportation terminal with the company of a guide. Around 7pm-8pm, we then leave in a 10 hour bus ride towards Güican – Boyacá and spend the night in the bus.
DAY 2:
In the morning, after enjoying a nice breakfast, we leave for Güicán Boyacá, where we will get registered in the National Park office. We will then take a vehicle that will take us to the shelter. Once we are settled, we will begin a short walk in order to get acclimated, and later we will have a delicious dinner back in the shelter.
DAY 3:
Early this day, we will have a delicious breakfast to gain energy for the day, and later we will prepare to reach the edge of the snow in Ritak´uwa, the highest peak in la Sierra Nevada del Cocuy, with 5340 m. The tour will be a personal challenge that will test your mind and body. Once the objective is fulfilled, you will realize that the effort was worth doing in order to visit one of the most wonderful places in Colombia. Two factors are important, climate conditions have to be favorable, and attitude and determination must be on point. Once we meet our objective, we will return to the shelter where we will have a delicious meal before resting.
DAY 4:
In the morning we will rest before having breakfast and leaving in a vehicle towards the thermal springs, where we will enjoy a nice traditional lunch. Around noon, we will head back to Bogota where the adventure ends.

Here you will be delighted with big windows and wooden doors of colonial-style buildings. We will leave in the morning in a car to the ecological park La Periquera. Finally we will return to Villa de Leyva in order to have lunch. After we have had lunch we will do a tour by the Center historical visiting the main streets of Villa of Leyva, we will go to the Cathedral, Church of the Carmen, El maestro Acuña museum, prehistoric museum, House Juan of Castellanos, House of the first Congress, Real factory of liquors, Antonio Ricaurte museum, Antonio Nariño museum, Molina de la Mesopotamia, and El Carmen museum when we have finished the tour we will have time to know handicrafts stor. Day 4:
This day we will go to the top of the mountain by car, there you can find the huts of Iguaque, after we will walk to the moor. Day 5:
In the Tota lake we can relax watching the imposing water mirror, reflecting the light blue when the clouds part. This lake is hidden in the middle of the Eastern Cordillera, becoming the largest natural water in Colombia, we will have breakfast in white beach, a magical place of white sand and worship site of the natives Muiscas, then we will visit Monguí, which is considered one of the prettiest villages in Boyacá, we will walk along the magic colonial streets we will know its myths and legends. Monguí is a place frozen in time, where the material, intangible and natural heritage are protagonists, it is a place where there are not problems, it is a place where you can enjoy its architecture, and gastronomy. After we have lunch we will go to Guatavita. It is a very beautiful town, it has a wonderful architecture full of magic, and it is new Guatavita. It is a tribute to the old Guatavita, which due to the construction of the reservoir to mine had to be moved in 1964 and rebuilt brick by brick and history by history. Day 6:

Villa de Leyva.
Once we have departed from Bogota, we make a stop at an emblematic site in the history of Colombia located near Tunja: Boyaca Bridge, the scene of one of the greatest battles fought in the history of Colombian independence. Next, discover the city of Tunja on the eastern edge of the Andes before we arrive in Villa de Leyva. Its high altitude of 2,144 meters adds to its atmosphere and fame as one of the finest colonial villages in the country. Enjoy its typical architecture, above all the Plaza Mayor - one of the largest town squares in Latin America- and paving stones which take you back to colonial times.
Visit the Paleontological Museum, curated by the National University of Colombia, and to the Santo Ecce Homo convent founded in 1620. Its main characteristic is the church and cemetery, an example of the mudejar art style as well as the cloister. Last on the itinerary are the ancient ruins of the Muisca astronomical observatory, ‘El Infiernito’ (or ‘little hell’) before we make our way back to Bogota.

Escursioni a Bogota - Guatavita lake tour - Private
Escursioni a Bogota: Make your own El Dorado pilgrimage to the sacred Lake of Guatavita. Located just 35 miles north east of Bogota, it’s an ideal escape from the city to the spectacular surrounding countryside. We drive through La Calera for unbeatable panoramic views, hike to Lake Guatavita and visit the traditional village of Guatavita.
Leaving Bogota we first drive to La Calera from where stunning views over the city unfold. Surrounded by rolling hills and lush landscapes, this is a drive to remember. Once we reach Sesquilé in the Almeidas province, we stretch our legs and enjoy an ecological walk up to the magical peculiarly circular Lake Guatavita. Located 3,000 metres above sea level, but only 300 metres across, its formation still remains a mystery: it is said it was formed in a crater; however other theories still exist such as meteorite or sinkhole. Legend also has it that this is where the El Dorado legend occurred; it’s one of the Muisca’s sacred lakes and where they conducted a ritual thought to have started the crazed search for gold. Its sparkling beauty will leave you dumbfounded, and not just for its mythical gold.
Finally, we head into Guatavita where you can see how a typical Colombian village works. Admire its architecture, which was rebuilt on higher ground after the original village of Guatavita was intentionally flooded to create the Tominé Dam. At the end of the tour we make our way back to Bogota in the late afternoon.

Head to Puerto Araujo and hike through cloud forest towards the town of Tena, where along the way you’ll come across a breath-taking waterfall and some of the richest flora and fauna around.
Travel to Puerto Araujo from your hotel, which is the starting point for your adventure. With the help of your expert and friendly guide, you’ll be navigated through the woodland paths that link this town to Tena and they’ll be on hand to answer any questions you may have. The entire walk is downhill, so all your friends and family can come and appreciate some of the finest and richest nature in Colombia, just a stone’s throw away from the city. The path will lead you past abundant flora and fauna, as well as the mosses that grow on the side of the ‘Honda’ creek.
Along the way you’ll also discover a traditional coffee farm, built over fifty years ago, and before you reach Tena, the spectacular El Tambo waterfall will appear before your eyes. With water falling 60 metres, it’s the perfect location to be at one with nature and enjoy a natural bath next to the cascading refreshing water. Around Tena, you’ll come across the Chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Merced, inspired by the Chapel of San Juan of the Nobleman of Segovia and the Mon Plaisier House. Once you reach Tena, rest your feet and head back to your hotel in Bogota city.

Climb up 2,100 metres above sea level to the summit of Quinini Mountain and you’ll be rewarded with fabulous views over Cundinamarca. Spend the night camping under the stars for an adventure that will reinvigorate, refresh and surprise.
Located just one hour away from Bogota, you’ll feel like you’re a world away as you hike through the Quinini Natural Park; home to misty mountain forest and indigenous ceremonial locations. You’ll be navigated and guided through the park with your expert and friendly guide who will be on hand to make sure you get the most out of your experience. Once you reach the summit you’ll be treated to spectacular views over the Magdalena River valley and the imposing snow-capped mountains of the Central Andes range to the west, as well as the Chinauta plateau to the east. But the adventure doesn’t end there. Camp overnight under the stars in the depths of the forest and at sunrise you’ll wake up peaceful and at one with nature. Discover important ceremonial places linked to the Panche indigenous tribe, such as the Indian’s head, Mohan cave and eagle’s beak, as you continue trekking through the natural park. Escursioni a Bogota - Hike to Lake Guatavita
Escursioni a Bogota: You can hike to the lagoon surrounded by greenery, history and beauty. This ancient site was one of the sacred lakes of the Muisca indigenous tribe, since there the ritual investiture of the new Zipa (Cacique) was performed; according to tradition, it was on a raft of reeds richly adorned; his body was entirely covered with gold dust, in his feet put a great heap of gold and emeralds to offer to the gods and fiery braziers to burning a kind of incense called “moque”; the new dignitary was accompanied by four chiefs and when the raft stayed in the middle of the lagoon, the people who was on the banks of the lagoon threw gold objects and precious stones into the water.
This is one of the origins of the legend “El Dorado”. The famous Muisca raft that is exhibited in the Gold Museum is an evidence of this rituals they did in the lakes of the region and you will walk the same paths of zipas and verify that it is a unique and special place. Along the way you will know Calera town and enjoy a typical breakfast in the region. Guatavita Lake is 3,100 meters above sea level with an average temperature of 11oC, is located only 1 hour from Bogota and shown a high level of conservation with beautiful scenery and handicrafts. The tour of the park is done on a pedestrian path that preserves the ecosystem without affecting the environment, nice place to relax from the noise of the city.

At the end of the tour we make our way back to Bogota in the early evening.

Escursioni a Bogota: You will be able to know an authentic Coffee Farm, where you will walk along a beautiful historic place and enjoy a fine Coffee Tour to observe closely the magical and fascinating process of growing and production of coffee, just 90 minutes away from Bogotá.
Come and be part of the ample processing which goes from the seed to the essence of each sip of coffee passing through the crops and their traditional processes, beginning in the seedbed where it is sown and harvested the chapola (sprout). Then, you go through a flowery coffee plantation of arábiga (Arabic) coffee of shadowing cultivation, to observe many of the varieties available in Colombia. This will make you feel like a coffee worker. From this place you will go to the Beneficiadora (warehouse), one of the most important and traditional places in the process of production, where coffee beans are washed, their pulp extracted and dried, and every bean is selected by hand.

Escursioni a Bogota: You will be able to know an authentic Coffee Farm, where you will walk along a beautiful historic place and enjoy a fine Coffee Tour to observe closely the magical and fascinating process of growing and production of coffee, just 90 minutes away from Bogotá.
Come and be part of the ample processing which goes from the seed to the essence of each sip of coffee passing through the crops and their traditional processes, beginning in the seedbed where it is sown and harvested the chapola (sprout). Then, you go through a flowery coffee plantation of arábiga (Arabic) coffee of shadowing cultivation, to observe many of the varieties available in Colombia. This will make you feel like a coffee worker. From this place you will go to the Beneficiadora (warehouse), one of the most important and traditional places in the process of production, where coffee beans are washed, their pulp extracted and dried, and every bean is selected by hand.
The journey continues at the threshing machine, and from there you go to the last critical step for the quality of coffee: the toasting. This slow artisanal process gives the coffee its characteristic color and impresses the final quality of its aroma and flavor, which already made a drink you can enjoy as a real expert. With this hike along a colonial path, the history of the area will come to life as with every step you take, you’ll be stepping where Iberian colonists and Indian Panches have stepped before. This ancient path cuts through the Andean cloud forest and links the Minga Land (savannah of Bogota) with the Magdalena Valley. Originally used by Indian Panches and Muiscas and later widened for horses by the Iberian colonists, it is the starting point for our hike, and the scenery that surrounds it will not disappoint. Built entirely of stone steps, the path splits into two through the Chicaque Natural Park: the upper and the lower. The lower path is the shortest to the Refuge which sits high above the trees affording glorious and commanding views over the forest. Escursioni a Bogota: Trek through the department of Cundinamarca with a full day trip that takes you through the rich diverse land that links Zipacon and Cachipay. Just a short journey away from Bogota, you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and hike through lush green countryside.
We set off from Bogota early in the morning towards the lovely town of Zipacon. Here you learn about the oldest evidence of agriculture and pottery of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense dating from 1270, before setting off along the disused railroad from the old train station. Along the way, pass by typical vegetable crops, such as peas, beans, chayote and after 30 minutes hiking we walk through an iron tunnel built in 1904. You’ll wind your way through picturesque ancient village roads by creeks, lush vegetation and rich flora and fauna. You’ll have time to take in the scenery and breathe in the clean fresh air before soon arriving into the town of Cachipay.
Throughout the hike, we’ll encounter many interesting monuments and sanctuaries including the Sanctuary of our Lady of Beautiful Love; where single women who are looking for love come to pay homage. Learn about the legend behind the Truth Stone and see a roof made out of guadua (a special plant of the region) in Cachipay. At the end of the tour we’ll make our way back to the hubbub of Bogota, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel in time to enjoy the rest of your evening in this vast city. You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Bogota and taken out of the city to the lush green lands around Cachipay. Visit the old train station, the Palace of Culture and the chapel before heading off on the disused railway line that leads towards the town of Girardot. Once we have departed from Bogota, we make a stop at an emblematic site in the history of Colombia, located near Tunja, Boyaca Bridge was the scene of one of the greatest battles fought in the history of Colombian independence, and was pivotal in its campaign. Next, discover the city of Tunja on the eastern edge of the Andes before we arrive in Villa de Leyva. Its high altitude of 2,144 meters adds to its atmosphere and fame as one of the finest colonial villages in the country. Enjoy its typical architecture, above all the Plaza Mayor - one of the largest town squares in Latin America- and paving stones which take you back to colonial times.
Visit the Paleontological Museum, curated by the National University of Colombia, and to the Santo Ecce Homo convent founded in 1620. Its main characteristic is the church and cemetery, an example of the mudejar art style as well as the cloister. Last on the itinerary are the ancient ruins of the Muisca astronomical observatory, ‘El Infiernito’ (or ‘little hell’) before we make our way back to Bogota.
