Luberon and Lavender: Live the high life in some of the most rustic hill towns of the Luberon region with this full day excursion. You’ll pass through the quaint villages of Lourmain and Bonnieux and take a stroll through a lively weekly market. You will also visit the villages of Gordes, Oppede-le-Vieux and Menerbes, and make a stop at the Lavender Museum.
To begin your scenic tour you will be driven through the villages of Lourmain and Bonnieux. Then head to either Roussillon (Thursday tour) or L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (Sunday tour) to enjoy a walk through a market offering traditional and local fresh produce. It is well known how exceptional French cheese in and you are sure to be able to find some fine examples in either location.
Then you head to Gordes, considered one of the most beautiful villages in France and to Oppede-le-Vieux, a village carved into the rock and whose authenticity has attracted artists and writers for decades. Also on the agenda is a visit to Menerbes, a fortress village that was the setting of a brutal siege lasting more than five years during the 16th century religious wars. There will also be an opportunity to pause at the Lavender Museum, the lavender being the symbolic flower of Provence. Here you will be able to try out an exclusive line of natural cosmetics made of locally produced AOC (controlled designation of origin) fine lavender essential oil. The spectacular sight of the lavender when in flower in the fields is also a feast for the eyes.
