Kyoto Maiko Dinner: Take a peek into the rarely seen world of Japanese geishas with an evening of traditional dances and food.
* Take a commemorative photo with the maiko
* See the maiko’s traditional dances and play traditional games
* Enjoy a traditional Japanese tempura meal
Kyoto is at the heart of the geisha world, and what better way to catch a glimpse into the geisha’s secretive world than with an evening with maiko (apprentice geisha). Young Japanese women begin the strict five year training from between the ages of 15 and 20 and only in Kyoto will you see a truly authentic performance.
Get an insight into Japanese culture and watch a maiko performance, and during the evening they will ensure everybody’s enjoyment with traditional Japanese games. You’ll even get the opportunity to take pictures with the maiko – a luxury not normally afforded to the public – and each participant will receive a Senjafuda (a maiko’s business card). At the Embroidery Museum you can enjoy seeing intricate embroidery work and exquisite paintings before sitting down for a Japanese-style tempura meal.
