There is a mighty fine reason as to why Himeji Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage, aside from its outstanding beauty and intricate design, it is one of the few survivors of traditional 17th Century Japanese architecture. Marvel at the wonders of this wonderful surrounding, situated on a hill top and consisting of 82 buildings on over 107 hectares, this really is a spectacular sight. The main body of the castle is a wonderful piece of woodwork carefully joined by white plastered earthen walls, functionally superb as well as aesthetically. Listen with intrigue as you stroll around the grounds whilst being led by a helpful guide explaining all the fascinating history of this characteristic location.
Feast your eyes upon this pleasing garden, as the next stop makes its way to the Kokoen Gardens. If you’re looking for a traditional-style Japanese garden then you will not be disappointed, as Kokoen is brimming with life in the form of various gardens featuring the classical green tea garden, a bamboo garden and a pine tree garden, amongst many others. This Edo Period inspired garden is most relaxing and is perfect for an enchanting meander.
After a quick stop for a traditional Japenese lunch, the tour whisks you away to the real treasure of this tour, The Maiko Marine Promenade. This promenade is casually located underneath the world’s longest suspension bridge and consists of breathtaking observatory hallways at a satisfying height of 47 meters above sea level.
