EXCURSION TRADICIONES ANDALUZA: We start this nine hour tour at the entry to Doñana Natural Park where we’ll visit a couple of the visitor’s centres to get to know more about the most important species of flora and fauna here and how mankind and nature have coexisted over time. Then we’ll explore the village and hermitage of El Rocio, the location of one of Southern Europe’s most important pilgrimage sites.
Visit the nearby village of El Rocíoin a pleasant walk in carriage. We’ll drive you through spectacular landscapes and a wide variety of eco-systems, passing lagoons, sand-dunes, wetlands, saltmarshes and pine forests. The wildlife is abundant here, you may see African migratory birds, fallow deer, Spanish red deer, wild boar, European badger, Egyptian mongoose, and endangered species such as the Spanish Imperial Eagle and the Iberian Lynx.
This is a world-renowned pilgrimage site, attracting millions of pilgrims every June for the festivity of the much-venerated Virgin of El Rocio. We’ll visit the Chapel that houses the Virgin, a small carved wooden statue with magnificent rainments. Your guide will tell you all about the history of the cult of the virgin and its famous romeria. The tour will end with a visit to a traditional wine cellar where you will have the chance to try some of the region’s fine wines.
