The Enchantment of the Ligurian Coast: Find out all about the quaint and cliff villages that beam their beauty all around. It’s not hard to see why they have been awarded the UNESCO heritage status.
* Climb and twist your way along the cliffs at Via dell’Amore
* Discover the hidden gem of the cove town of Vernazza
* Unwind on the beautiful boat ride that floats along the coast
Make your way around the winding roads that are cushioned by the cliffs. The curious pastel cottages, ornate bell towers, marvellous Mediterranean marquis and abundance of olive trees pave the way giving you something to gaze out at on the journey. The amazing Apuan Alps provide the most beautiful background as well. You will pop along to the quaint town of Cinque Terre which stands out thanks to its terrific medieval tower houses and its steep hill terracing design.
It’s from there that we set out on the romantic and serene stroll from Via dell’Amore to Manaola. We carry on and end up uncovering the hidden gem of Vernazza which is known from far and wide for its beauty. On top of seeing it up close and personal, you’ll get to admire it from afar on the peaceful boat ride that cruises between Vernazza and Portovenere. For an hour you’ll float along to the pretty little towns that you have become acquainted with.
Hop-off the boat and land in the rich-in-history and picturesque Portovenere. Kiss goodbye to the stresses of modern life as you take a much needed seaside saunter by the mini boutiques which are bursting at the seams with a bunch of local bits and bobs. Go along to the Gothic Church of San Pietro which dates all the way back to 1198. It’s teemed with typical white and black bands, perched on top of the promontory and built on the remains of a Roman temple which is dedicated to the goddess of love herself: Venus. Last but not least, check out the magnificent medieval sculptures of the Collegiate of San Lorenzo which came about in 1130 and the imposing Castello Doria which looks out over the hamlet.
