Visite du Royal Grand Palace et le temple d'Emerald Buddha: Take in centuries of Thailand’s history and culture as you visit Bangkok’s most spectacular and well known attractions on this unforgettable tour. Marvel at the spectacular Royal Grand Palace, admire the Temple of the Emerald Buddha at Wat Phra Kaew, be amazed by the statue of the Golden Buddha at Wat Trimit and soak up the history of Thailand first university and the birthplace of the Thai massage at Wat Pho.
Begin the tour with a trip to Bangkok’s Grand Palace, still used to this day for royal engagements and functions. Constructed in the 18th century, the palace was the home of the Chakri dynasty for hundreds of years. Consisting of over 100 brightly colored buildings, golden spires and glittering mosaics, the palace is a truly spectacular visual spectacle. Make your way through the extravagant gardens and courtyards before marveling at the breathtaking luxury of the interior.
Right next to the Grand palace you will find the Temple of Wat Phra Kaew, the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand and home to the statue of the Emerald Buddha. Carved from one single jade stone, learn about the statue’s rich history, having travelled through Cambodia and India before finding a home in Bangkok. Then head to Wat Trimit temple to admire its huge golden Buddha statue. Weighing over five and a half tons, it is the largest solid gold statue found anywhere in the world.
Finish the tour by making the short journey to Wat Pho temple, birthplace of the Thai massage and also known as Thailand’s first university. However, the main tourist draw of this stunning temple is the 43 meter long golden statue of the reclining Buddha. Depicting the spiritual leader on the point of enlightenment, this vast statue is one of the most important pious objects in the Buddhist faith and attracts millions of visitors each year.
Later we will stop off at a restaurant for an International Buffet Lunch before continuing our programme. To round off the tour, we call in at a local lapidary factory and showroom where you will be able to get locally made jewelry, handicrafts and silk at competitive prices.
