Central Park is located at the heart of the city, surrounded by the traditional grid pattern frequently utilized in Spanish urban planning in the colonies. The park is surrounded by the Palace of the Generals Captain , City Hall, the church of San José (formerly the Cathedral of Guatemala), the Archbishop’s Palace and the Portal of Commerce (or the Bakers’ Portal). Here, visitors will also find the Mermaid´s Fountain. The Count of Gomera (Gomera is the word for a rubber plantation) built the fountain in remembrance of a popular legend, which tells the story of a King whose daughters gave birth but did not want to nurse their children. Learn about this famous story as you immerse yourself in the colonial history of the city.
Next, you will explore the Cathedral which was constructed between 1543 and 1680 with an elaborate baroque façade in mortar, typical of antique churches. The Cathedral has smooth columns, a body and a belfry that was rebuilt after the Santa Marta earthquake in 1773. You then proceed to the Arch of Santa Catalina. This institution was established in 1609, and the nuns in this temple and convent were cloistered. The temple was inaugurated on the 15th of September, 1647. In 1694, construction of the arch was finished and it served as a bridge to connect the convent with the gardens on the other side of the street.

These form the natural frame of the lake, which has a surface of 125 square kilometres and lies 1560 meters above sea level. Begin by journeying from Antigua to Panajachel, a trip through the Western Highlands region filled with quaint mountain towns, highland lakes and pine forests. Once in Panajachel, hop onto a boat to cross Lake Atitlan and visit Santiago Atitlan, where you will learn all about the local Saint Maximon. Santiago is by far one of the most popular lakeside settlements outside Panajachel, where the locals still adhere to a traditional Tz’utujil Mayan lifestyle. The local women weave and wear what are known as huipiles – elegant tunics embroidered with breath-taking colourful depictions of birds and flowers. Ancient ceremonies coexist side by side with Mayan Catholicism.
Continue then to explore Panajachel, where you will also enjoy a lunch break. This pre-Columbian town witnessed the last battle between Spaniards and their Kakchiquel allies against the local Tzujiles. The Franciscans missionaries that abounded in that age also left their mark in this region by erecting a convent nearby. At the end of the trip, you will be comfortably taken back to your hotel. This is, in short, the best way for you to dive into the region's history while getting to see the lifestyle of the Mayan people.

Among its main temples and plazas: Major Plaza it is the Archaeological Park of Tikal, surrounded by impressive buildings as the Temples I and II, the North and Central Acropolis, as well as a big range of wakes and altars that talk part of the dynastic history of the Mayan Civilization in Tikal. Temple I known also as Big Jaguar Temple, it was built around the 700 year of our era. North Acropolis it is a religious area, within the ceremonial complex of TikalCentral Acropolis It is integrated by small courtyard in different levels, by large and low buildings called “palaces”.

The themepark showcases many styles of architecture that range from traditional, colonial, and neo-classical.
The park features architectural reproductions of many landmarks from across the world, including the Trevi Fountain, Moulin Rouge, and the Tikal Temple of the Great Jaguar. The park is divided into seven total plazas, which feature architecture from a total of six countries, including France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. Each national architecture style is featured in its own unique plaza.
Xetutul features two roller coasters; Avalancha, a steel roller coaster with 8 inversions (one of only six roller coasters in the world with 8 or more inversions, and Central America’s largest roller coaster; and Choconoy a smaller family roller coaster. Xetutul also features the only double-decker carousel in Central America.

Xocomil is not only the biggest water-park of Guatemala, it’s also the most visited and complete. Designed around a Mayan pyramid, this fantastic 77,300 square meters amusement park features a full day of fun for the entire family.
Xocomil also includes seven options of water rides, which will thrill you to the core. From high speed slides in a 148 meters ride. Other attractions include the "El Caracol" which takes riders through a dark tunnel that propels them into a big funnel and "Nido de Serpientes" which has 7 different courses of twisting flumes.
The park features four different pools, two of them with waves, one for children and one for adults; one flowing river that provides a fun way to get around the park floating on a tube. Along most of the tubes are items such as Mayan masks and items which represent Guatemala’s Mayan heritage.
