Since the Turkish invasion in 1974, Varosha has remained an abandoned ghost town. Join us to explore the history in this half day trip to Famagusta and let us guide you through a unique experience.
Our tour guide will lead you to the historic port city and tell you all the amazing facts and stories of how in the medieval times this was the most important port on the Island due to trade and how this beautiful backdrop was the setting for our very own William Shakespeare’s play Othello. We will then lead the way to Saint Nicholas Cathedral, which was converted into a mosque in 1571 where you will have some free time to wander around and explore the old town.
Upon satisfying your curiosity, we will head down to Constantia beach where you may cool off in the refreshing waters and bathe whilst observing the abandoned and derelict hotels and homes in Varosha. Relax as you take in the history around you and imagine what this city was once like.

If you only want to spend one day sightseeing, make it this one. Taking in three of Cyprus’ top attractions; Kolossi castle, the Cyprus Wine Museum and the ruins of the ancient city of Kourion.
Your first stop is the Erimi Wine Museum where you’ll learn the history of the island’s wines. Set out on a journey through centuries of Cyprus wine history. Ancient jars and vases, medieval drinking vessels, old documents and instruments illustrate how wine was produced, stored and enjoyed in the past. Photographic backdrops and audiovisual equipment bring all aspects of wine making to life, from cultivation to production. And of course, you'll get to try and buy some while you’re there. Next up is the stunning Kolossi Castle. Dating from the middle ages, it boasts an impressive list of visitors, including Richard the Lionheart. This former Crusader stronghold is located in a dramatic coastal setting near the city of Limassol. Once you’ve finished the castle tour, it’s on to the ancient city of Kourion. A treasure house of history, you’ll take a seat in its 2,000-year old amphitheatre and travel back in time as your guide brings it all back to life. You’ll also make a stop at a village house for a traditional meze lunch.

Larnaca Excursions & Tours - Tour of the traditional villages of Cyprus
Larnaca Excursions & Tours: Let us show you the true authentic Cyprus. We will visit some of the small, traditional villages, meet the locals and get to experience more about the daily life, customs and traditions here in Cyprus. The day begins in Palaichori, where we have a coffee break in the square of the village.
In the village of Agros, we will visit Niki, making homemade Cypriot sweets, we then visit the rosewater production and we finish our visit in the village at the factory where they produce the local smoked meats. Homemade lunch is served in an authentic restaurant in Pelendri.
After lunch we will visit Tsakkas winery for a taste of Cyprus’ wine with beautiful scenery over the valley. Nature and scenery along the route will bring you the real Cyprus experience, to say the least. High mountains and deep valleys, olive groves, grape groves and almond trees brighten our day. Authentic Cyprus is one of our selected excursions conducted by minibus for up to 20 people in order to provide a more personal experience.

We begin our journey off road passing through stunning scenery and remote off the beaten track locations, until we reach the picturesque village of Lefkara, famous for its delicate lace and beautiful silverware. Wander through the narrow streets at your leisure before we go back off road, trundling down dirt tracks as we take in the natural beauty of the island, heading for Arakapas. After driving through fragrant pine forests our next stop will be for a leisurely lunch at a traditional restaurant. Next, a thrilling climb to the sophisticated mountain resort of Platres. Here you will have plenty of time to relax in this beautiful spot with its lush vegetation and cool spring waters. We pass through traditional stone villages on the way and you’ll have plenty of time to stretch your legs amongst the vineyards and pines before arriving back at your hotel.

Come and discover the ruins of Cyprus, both ancient and modern, with this exclusive one day fully guided tour of the ghost town of Famagusta and the remains of the classical kingdom of Salamis.
The ruins of the ancient Roman city of Salamis are among the most important archaeological sites in Cyprus and cover an impressive location, extending along the sea shore with a stunning Mediterranean backdrop. Your knowledgeable local guide will show you around the main excavations, including the impressive open-air amphitheatre, the gymnasium, the baths and the theatre. They have all undergone a painstaking restoration process.
We will then continue our journey with a stop at the old city of Famagusta, where time has literally stood still since the Turkish invasion of 1974. The old city is surrounded by one of the best-preserved Venetian fortifications in the eastern Mediterranean. There are plenty of medieval and renaissance buildings to visit, many of them still bearing the scars of the Ottoman siege of 1571. We will visit the citadel, also known as Othello’s Tower, the Cathedral of St Nicholas (converted to a mosque after the Ottoman conquest) and the Church of St George, famed for its colourful frescoes. Then take a stroll around the old town, where there is something of interest in almost every corner. There’s also plenty of free time for you to relax, soak up the sun or enjoy a swim in the Med or even to stare across the fence at the seafront district of Varosha, which has been cordoned off and abandoned.
